Privacy Policy

Version: September 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Workout Lock iOS application or Android application, our website, support services, and related services, why we use that information, and the choices and rights available to you.

We aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate, understand, support, and improve Workout Lock.

1. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use Workout Lock.

1.1 Onboarding Information

When you complete Workout Lock onboarding, you may voluntarily provide information about yourself, your workouts, and your experience with digital distraction.

Depending on the version of the App and the analytics events generated, some or all of your onboarding answers may also be included in our analytics.

These answers may include information such as:

  • your name or preferred name, if provided;
  • age or age range;
  • sex;
  • workout frequency and workout habits;
  • preferred or actual workout duration;
  • distraction frequency and duration;
  • situations in which you become distracted;
  • reasons you keep your phone with you during workouts;
  • your goals and motivations;
  • feelings or reactions related to distraction;
  • activities affected when workouts run longer than intended;
  • methods you have previously tried to reduce distraction;
  • preferences and identity statements selected during onboarding.

We use this information to personalize your experience, understand how people use Workout Lock, evaluate onboarding and product performance, and improve the Service.

1.2 Workout Data

Workout Lock stores and processes information necessary to create, run, restore, and complete workouts.

Some or all of this information may also be included in product analytics.

Depending on how you use the App, workout information may include:

  • workout mode, such as Timed, Checklist, or Guided;
  • workout name;
  • configured and actual workout duration;
  • workout start and finish times;
  • exercises, sets, repetitions, rest periods, and transitions;
  • checklist items and their completion state;
  • workout completion or abandonment status;
  • workout-session identifiers;
  • timing or pace information;
  • whether a workout was restored after the App was restarted;
  • counts relating to selected distractions, apps, or categories;
  • feedback you provide after a workout.

Workout names, checklist items, or other free-text fields may contain text entered by you. You should avoid entering information that you do not want processed as part of the Service.

1.3 Screen Time and App-Blocking Data

Workout Lock uses Apple's Screen Time technologies to restrict apps or categories selected by you.

The actual blocking functionality is performed using Apple's on-device technologies.

We do not collect the contents of other applications, your messages, browsing history, photos, passwords, or the content you view inside blocked applications.

Workout Lock may process Apple-provided app or category selection tokens locally on your device in order to apply restrictions.

Our analytics may include aggregate information or counts relating to distraction selections, such as the number of applications or categories selected. We do not use Screen Time information to build advertising profiles or sell information about your app usage.

1.4 Analytics and Technical Information

We collect product analytics in order to understand how Workout Lock is used, diagnose problems, and improve the App.

Analytics may include:

  • installation or device identifiers used by Workout Lock;
  • onboarding-session identifiers;
  • workout-session identifiers;
  • event and sequence identifiers;
  • app version;
  • iOS version;
  • timestamps;
  • screens or features used;
  • purchase-flow and paywall interactions;
  • workout and onboarding information described above;
  • error and diagnostic information;
  • whether particular operations succeeded, failed, or were cancelled.

Analytics identifiers may be pseudonymous, meaning that they identify an installation or device rather than directly identifying you by name.

However, pseudonymous information may still constitute personal information under applicable privacy law.

1.5 Purchases and Subscription Information

Payments for Workout Lock on iOS are processed by Apple.

We may receive or process information necessary to determine your entitlement, such as:

  • the Workout Lock product or plan purchased;
  • whether a subscription or Lifetime Access entitlement is active;
  • subscription or entitlement expiration information;
  • trial status or introductory-offer eligibility;
  • purchase, cancellation, refund, or revocation status where made available by Apple.

We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

1.6 Support Information

If you contact us through our website, support form, or email, we may collect:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • the subject of your request;
  • the message and other information you choose to provide;
  • information reasonably necessary to investigate your issue.

We use this information to respond to and manage your request.

1.7 Partner and Creator Information

If you participate in, apply for, or communicate with us about a partner, affiliate, creator, ambassador, promotional, or similar relationship, we may collect information such as:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • information about the relevant partnership or campaign;
  • communications between you and workout Lock operators.

We use this information to evaluate, administer, communicate about, and maintain the partnership.

1.8 Website and Network Information

When you visit our website or communicate with our online services, our hosting or infrastructure providers may automatically process technical information such as:

  • IP address;
  • browser and device type;
  • request time;
  • pages requested;
  • basic server and security logs.

We use this information to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website and related services.

2. How We Use Information

We use information described in this Privacy Policy to:

  • provide Workout Lock and its features;
  • personalize the onboarding and workout experience;
  • determine whether you have paid access;
  • restore and safely operate workouts;
  • understand how users interact with the App;
  • analyze onboarding, paywall, purchase, and workout performance;
  • diagnose bugs and technical problems;
  • improve existing features and design new ones;
  • answer support enquiries;
  • administer partner and creator relationships;
  • prevent abuse, fraud, and security problems;
  • comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use Screen Time information or workout information for third-party behavioral advertising.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") or similar law applies, we process personal information only when we have an appropriate legal basis.

Depending on the processing activity, this may include:

Performance of a contract:
We process information where necessary to provide Workout Lock, paid access, support, and functionality requested by you.

Legitimate interests:
We may process limited analytics, diagnostics, product-usage data, fraud-prevention information, and business communications where reasonably necessary to operate, secure, understand, and improve Workout Lock.

When relying on legitimate interests, we consider the impact on your privacy and your reasonable expectations.

Consent:
Where applicable law requires consent for a particular processing activity, we will rely on consent and you may withdraw that consent.

Legal obligations:
We may process information where required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal proceedings, or valid governmental requests.

4. How We Share Information

We may share information only where reasonably necessary with:

Apple:
Apple processes App Store purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and StoreKit transactions and provides the Screen Time technologies used by Workout Lock.

Hosting and infrastructure providers:
Providers may host our website, analytics systems, backend services, databases, or related infrastructure.

Communication and support providers:
Providers may process communications necessary to deliver or manage support requests and business email.

Professional advisers:
We may disclose information to lawyers, accountants, insurers, or other advisers where reasonably necessary.

Authorities:
We may disclose information where legally required or necessary to protect our rights, users, or others.

Business transfers:
If Workout Lock is acquired, merged, reorganized, or transferred, relevant information may form part of that transaction subject to applicable law.

Service providers may process information only for the purposes for which we engage them and subject to appropriate contractual and legal safeguards.

We do not sell personal information to data brokers.

5. International Data Transfers

Some providers we use may process information outside the European Economic Area.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required by law.

The appropriate retention period depends on factors including the type of information, why it was collected, whether it remains necessary to operate or improve the Service, legal obligations, and the sensitivity of the information.

Support communications may be retained while a request is active and for a reasonable period afterward.

Partner information may be retained for the duration of the relationship and afterward where necessary for administration, accounting, legal, or recordkeeping purposes.

Analytics may be retained while reasonably useful for product analysis and improvement and may later be deleted, aggregated, or de-identified.

7. Local Data

Workout Lock also stores certain information locally on your device in order to operate the App.

This can include onboarding state, workout/session information, selected Screen Time tokens, preferences, and other operational state.

Removing the App generally removes ordinary app-local data from that device, subject to iOS and Apple-controlled storage behavior.

Your App Store purchase history and entitlement are controlled by Apple and are not stored by Workout Lock as the authoritative source of your purchase.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the information we process against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure.

No system can guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to your personal information.

These may include the right to:

  • obtain information about how we process your data;
  • request access to your personal data;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of information;
  • restrict certain processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • receive certain information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection authority.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your country.

Because some Workout Lock analytics are associated with pseudonymous installation or device identifiers rather than your name or email address, we may need information available from your device in order to locate records associated with you.

10. Children

Workout Lock is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without legally valid authorization.

If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information contrary to applicable law, contact us and we will investigate and take appropriate action.

11. Automated Decision-Making

Workout Lock does not currently use personal information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Workout Lock, our technology, or applicable law changes.

You should revisit this Privacy Policy before every use of the Service to review any changes. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
